11 One gentleman’s 18 kt. (yellow) gold pocket watch with a hinged finely finished machine patterned face. The hour markers are in polished gold and are Roman numerals with the hands crafted in the “Fleur de Lysse” pattern and crafted of blued steel. The seconds sweep hand is styled in the “Moon” fashion with Arabic numerals on the ten divisions and bars markers on the other in black enamel. The movement is a jewelled 3/4 bar mechanical type with a key wind type arrangement. The watch bears the English crown over 18c stamp and the makers mark “PC” (Peter Connell). The shield with a sword and three wheat sheaves cannot be traced, however the date letter “Crossed X” would indicate that the watch was crafted in the year 1867-8. The piece is in very good condition and appears to be in good working order. The frontispiece bears an engraved shield surrounded by a buckler with the initials “HS”. The piece is complete with a winding key (original) and a setting key (replacement). This watch is an excellent example of the last of the “key wind” mechanism type. Est. value $4500.00
