This auction will take place on April 15, 2008 commencing at 11:45am. The sale will take place at the Eagles Club - 17 Elm Street, north of Dundas, west of Yonge. Viewing for this sale will start on Saturday, March 29 from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Closed Sundays) until Monday, April 14, 2008 at our office at 211 Yonge Street, downtown Toronto. We will allow limited viewing on day of sale (April 15) from 9.40 a.m. to 11 a.m. We are located just up the street from the Elgin Theatre and just around the corner from Massey Hall. We are across the street and just a bit south of the Eaton Centre Shuter Street Parking Entrance. Take the Albert Street/Massey Hall exit from the Queen Subway stop and you are outside our building.Please note that a 15% buyers commission will be added to the hammer prices of lots purchased, and applicable taxes will be added to the hammer price + commission.

344 C U.S.A. 1909 Hudson-Fulton Flights with Wilbur Wright - 1¢ Franklin tied by “Yonkers N.Y. Oct 5, 1909" machine cancel to South Gower, Ont. (Canada) with split ring of same “Oc 6/09". View side shows painting by “Louis Biedermann” “Airships Passing West Point”. This was the greatest aerial spectacle of the time and attracted Wilbur Wright with a contract and a guaranteed payment of $15,000. The Wright Brother plane may be one of the two featured in the painting. Glenn Curtiss was to fly a plane as well. The Hudson-Fulton flights would give New York the possibilities of flight through the air by aeroplane. Tiny minor flaws otherwise fine and rare. Flight concluded Oct. 4th. and this card mailed Oct. 5th. E$200+

Hamilton Merritt to John Inwood (a founder of the service) dated Sept. 3rd. for the Sept. 4th flight. Merritt was President of the Aero Club of Canada and this letter on their stationery. 347 Terrence B. Tully autograph on Jacques Schneider Trophy Banquet Menu of 1926. 13 other signatures on menu. The U.S.A. had won the trophy at the previous two events and only needed to win the 1926 event to keep permanent possession of the trophy. However, the Italians won it with considerable backing from Mussolini’s government. Less than a year later Tully would be killed trying to fly from London, Ont. to London, England.
